About Me

My Name is Ronnie Moretz from Boone NC, and I have been involved in Bluegrass Music since I was 12 years old.  I started playing the guitar in elementary school and eventually learned the banjo and upright bass.  I got to know and become friends with Doc Watson as he was friends with my father and was determined to learn the guitar like him. I have played in various groups over the years with not only friends from school but others.  I have promoted and still help with music productions and have been hosting the High Country's Original 2 hour Bluegrass radio show Catgut n Jugs for a combined 17 years, playing traditional and modern Bluegrass music .  I was honored this year to be nominated for Broadcaster of the year at the IBMA, and now for the same nomination for the SPBGMA awards this coming January in Nashville.  Each week I play as much music as can possibly be packed into the 2 hours.  I also have artist join me live on the phone and sometimes live when possible.  I only hope that when folks listen in they have as good of a time as I do presenting the show to the listening audience
